Behavior Bingo
I love to use positive reinforcement in the classroom! One way I reward the class is with Behavior Bingo. When the class gets a compliment or I notice everyone is on task, a student picks a number out of a basket and puts a sticker on it. Once the class gets a row or column they get a reward (i.e. popsicle or popcorn & movie). We start out the year with 30 numbers but by the end of the year we use 100 numbers. This is such a good idea! I had a big fish bowl in my room and whenever my class would get a compliment in the hallway for being quiet or I thought they were all on task in class they would earn a fish for the fishbowl. Of course my class was they quietest class in the hallway because they were fishing for compliments. I also told them that if they got a compliment from the principal or vice principal they would get 2 fishes. I know it is kind of a sneaky way to look good in front of the higher ups but it worked. Ha!
ReplyDeleteWell the point was to earn 100 fishes and we would have a pizza party and a movie. The students were very motivated and excited when they got a fish.
Im glad you are trying to use the clip-chart system this year. I just think its a better way to recognize the good students. I am going to give them a little jewel every time they get on outstanding and after so many jewels they get to change their clip to a colored one. Just another way to show positive reinforcement.
Ok it has gotten long enough. I am your newest follower. I love how colorful your blog is.

I LOVE the bingo idea!!! I have done the "Brownie Points" idea but I really like this because it helps with number recognition too!!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I'll be using this this year for sure! I have a whole class plan in place already, but I think this will be a quick way to recognize little accomplishments or compliments. I'll save my "You knocked my socks off!" for the bigger things. :) I love your blog - I'm your newest follower! Thanks for sharing!

Yes, I used Behavior Bingo last year and we are gearing up to use it again this year. My class loved it and it was great for number recognition and behavior motivation!
